A very rare, exciting role for a lawyer who has already committed their career over recent years to working in a PSL/Knowledge Management capacity, as this is a rare chance to step up and take on a Director of Knowledge Management role, overseeing all of the knowledge management functions for this leading, national practice, headquartered here in their large Bristol offices.
Our client is a Top 100 UK law firm with a number of offices spread across the UK, and can count over 450 staff including 65 Partners. They are a full service firm but in particular have a national profile for their leading teams in areas such as Health and Social Care, Housing and Local and Central Government working throughout the UK. Core areas of work for the firm include Commercial, Corporate, Property, Regulatory, Employment, areas of Litigation work etc.
The purpose of this new role will be to lead and manage the delivery of Knowledge Management services across the firm in support of the firm's firm-wide strategy looking ahead over the next few years, when the firm has plenty of exciting, ambitious plans to implement to further develop their reputation and their internal efficiencies. This position as the firm's new Director of Knowledge Management (DKM) is a pivotal strategic role.
As the firm's DKM you will formulate and implement the firm's overall approach to harnessing its communal knowledge to drive the firm's key strategic decisions, facilitate business improvements as well as giving fee-earners easy to access up-to-date information, so that they can create, share and apply it to serve the firm's wide-ranging clients in more efficient and productive ways. It is a role where every day and every challenge will be different and you will be making a significant difference to the way the whole firm operates. You will be working closely with the key stakeholders across the firm on a national scale so the Board, the Department Heads, the Business Service Directors in the different office locations, and also working closely in conjunction with other key teams including Finance, Risk, Marketing and Business Development, and HR.
So, are you ready for and right for this role ? Well, you will already have significant experience of a similar role in a similarly sized or larger professional services environment, preferably also from working within a law firm. You will be a confident leader and communicator, able to offer excellent written and verbal communication skills and with the gravitas and ability to command attention, create and deliver to strategy, deliver presentations to large and small groups and adjusting your communication style to the audience. You will have experience of planning and implementing change across large organisations, with multiple offices, and perhaps experience of managing change within a regulated environment, to a budget within defined and sometimes tight time-frames. Perhaps most importantly of all you will be a team player with a can-do attitude and a passion for excellence, both in your own work and in the work and opportunities for others.
