COURT OF PROTECTION PRACTITIONER

 Summary

Suitably experienced Court of Protection practitioner required for our Court of Protection Department. The candidate must have 2+ years of experience of Court of Protection work (solicitor, paralegal, legal executive or other either from private practice or local authority). The role is flexible in terms of hours and working location (from home, remote, one of our Southern offices, or a combination of all).

 The specialist Court of Protection practitioner will run their own varied caseload, involving all aspects of financial management under Professional Deputyship and Lasting Powers of Attorneys. The role is client-facing, with regular client home visits.

 The ideal candidate will be a hardworking individual who is able to work autonomously but as part of the wider Court of Protection team with junior (admin) and senior (technical) support as and when needed.  The role is a varied and challenging position with opportunities to work with the Head of Department to grow our Court of Protection presence on the South Coast; working on existing and new business relationships to replicate the success and growth the Court of Protection team has achieved in other areas of the country.

 Candidate

 The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience of running own caseload of deputyship matters including lower level asset matters where care funding from local authority, NHS or other and benefit income is relevant. 

  • Have experience of drafting, registering and running Lasting Powers of Attorneys.

  • Have contacts or rapport with fellow professionals, social workers and Local Authorities in this practice area.

  • Be willing to travel to attend on clients in and around the South West/South coast.

  • Be able to time record and meet financial targets.

  • Able to hit the ground running with managing files and a new caseload.

  • Excellent client care skills with an empathetic nature as you will be handling sensitive legal issues for vulnerable clients.

  • Professional with a pro-active approach.

  • Highly effective communicator.

  • Concise and clear document drafting.

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • Conscientious and hardworking.

  • Team player.

Additional Information:-

  • Hours of work are flexible but full time is:37.5 hours per week - must be flexible to cover between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm – core hours 9.00 to 5.30

  • Death in Service x 3 salary

  • Private Medical Insurance cover (subject to eligibility)

  • 25 days holiday per annum + Bank Holidays

  •  3% contribution (by employer) to pension scheme
