A.Purkiss Buildings & Decorating Contractors Limited provide professional and high-quality construction, refurbishment and building maintenance projects.

We are a family-operated company working within Hampshire for local authorities (Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport, Eastleigh), Hampshire CC, West Sussex Council, with chartered surveyors and private clients on a variety of projects delivering high quality construction, refurbishment, & maintenance projects. We generally remain local to Portsmouth.

Due to continued expansion, we are looking for a Contracts Manager to lead on a variety of construction projects.

About the Contracts Manager role:

As part of the Building Projects team, you will be responsible for leading and directing the delivery of appointed construction projects with values ranging from £5k to £3.5 million across various sectors. You will ensure the achievement of business plan objectives, with a particular focus on quality and high standards of Health and Safety.

Key responsibilities:

• Oversee external flat and internal void refurbishment works for Portsmouth City Council.
• Utilise your expertise in project planning to ensure effective execution.
• Estimate project costs and provide necessary variations as required.
• Coordinate and manage sub-contractors for seamless project delivery.
• Collaborate closely with site managers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed within designated timelines.
• Uphold a high standard of workmanship and prioritise safety standards at all times.
• Demonstrate experience in working within social housing and school environments.
• Provide valuable support to the Company Director.
• Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with the JCT suite of construction contracts.
• Attend weekly site meetings and actively contribute to project discussions.
• Efficiently manage monthly valuations and final accounts.
• Motivate and inspire team members to drive projects forward.
• Adapt to work independently or as part of a cohesive team to deliver exceptional results.
• Display excellent organisation and time management skills.
• Possess a strong awareness of Health and Safety regulations to maintain industry standards.
• Demonstrate exceptional professionalism and courteousness when interacting with clients, including residents within occupied properties.

The perfect candidate will meet the following:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in construction management.
• Proficiency in IT and experience using programming software, ideally MS Projects.
• Possession of a professional qualification (MCIOB) or a degree/HNC qualification.
• SMSTS certification or equivalent.
