Legal Contracts and Compliance Advisor – Legal

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £37,000 - £47,000 per annum + 21% pension contribution

Location: London based hub - with hybrid working in the UK

We are looking for an experienced Legal, Contracts and Compliance Advisor who can work within a well-established legal team of five. The Legal, Contracts and Compliance advisor will report into the Legal Counsel to support the legal department to deliver a high-quality service across the organisation. 

Key responsibilities include:


  • Support the research teams throughout the contract process, from tender to contract/grant award and implementation phase to mitigate contract and legal risks throughout the cycle
  • Review, negotiate and finalise all contract and grant terms including framework agreements, consortium, subcontractor, subcontractor, MOUs, etc
  • Drive the resolution of all commercial, contractual or legal issues as they arise for both the charity and its trading subsidiary entities of ODI
  • Proactively contribute to the improvement and optimisation of ODI’s legal and contract management best practices
  • Excellent relationship management with key stakeholders within the business and with global private sector and public sector parties
  • Drive statutory and donor compliance by ensuring policy, procedures and contracts are continually updated 

About you           


  • Hold a UK legal qualification and strong experience of working within a contracts and compliance role
  • Experience of working in a charity and/or commercial entities
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and be task focused
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to write and deliver appropriate training to legal and non-legal professionals
