The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team. An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve “Gold Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Shoosmiths' 5-partner and 18 other legal advisers’ national construction and engineering team advises on all aspects of legal construction matters. Our construction team has advised on some of the UK’s most significant construction projects over the years, including infrastructure projects, logistics parks, commercial/residential schemes, town centre redevelopments, urban regeneration schemes, portfolio acquisition/disposal projects and process plants. The team acts for developers, occupiers, funders, construction professionals, contractors and specialists on managing and resolving risks in building and engineering projects.

The non-contentious construction team in Birmingham is led by Andrew Outram with the National Team Head, Patrick Garner, also sitting in the team. Its recent work has included leading on the construction aspects of various major logistics developments and build to rent schemes with some of the UK’s leading developers and advising on the corporate acquisition of a landmark building in London with a value of £400m. Our Birmingham team of three partners and 10 legal advisors works closely with our wider national team and is consistently highly regarded in the legal rankings.
