The Team

We are keen to appoint a junior Solicitor, to join our successful Construction team. The Construction team sits alongside our wider Real Estate group which, in the UK, consists of 23 partners, 54 fee-earners, 3 trainees, 10 paralegals and spans three UK offices. Our particular focus is on the domestic market although we do work cross-jurisdiction with our other offices.

Our Construction team has been strengthened significantly around 18 months ago with the arrival of a team of 8 from RPC. The team and their client base has successfully integrated with the existing team, creating a market leading platform that continues to go from strength to strength since.

Responsibilities

The role would suit someone who has experience of all aspects of contentious construction, particularly including adjudication and TCC proceedings (across a spectrum of defects, payment and delay disputes) as well as experience of drafting and negotiating amendments to the JCT and NEC suites of building contracts. Candidates should be comfortable in handling their own case load (albeit as part of a wider team and with partner supervision).

Solid and demonstrable experience of acting for employers, main contractors and end users in all sectors (including building, infrastructure and energy) is also desirable. While this is principally a contentious role; there is also an opportunity for some non-contentious work .

An enthusiasm for developing and maintaining client relationships is essential.

Key Skills & Experience

* Experience working within a well regarded construction team.

* Good legal skills including attention to detail in drafting and a genuine interest in the needs of the client

* An ability to think laterally and identify related issues and problems

* A confident and professional manner and eagerness to embrace the social nature of our team

Among our clients we count social media sites and high street coffee chains as well as pharmaceutical, life sciences and medical devices companies, energy suppliers, banks and technology leaders.

Clients choose to work with us because we deliver commercial, pragmatic and innovative solutions through our exceptional legal expertise and experience, on time and on budget.

In June 2019, Fieldfisher was awarded a 5 star ranking for client service by The Legal 500. It was one of only five firms in the top 25 list of UK-headquartered firms to receive 5 stars based on client feedback.

Fieldfisher aims to ensure equality of opportunity and we are actively working towards improving the diversity of our staff. All applications will only be considered on merit and the applicant's suitability to meet the requirements of the role.
