Our construction and engineering team is ranked Band 1, National Leader; we have `considerable expertise in both contentious and non-contentious matters.` and according to one observer is ‘as good as any magic circle firm'. Four of our lawyers have individual rankings. (Chambers 2020).

Our widely respected team is one of the largest dedicated construction teams in the UK, with offices in London, Edinburgh and Bristol and a strong profile in the transport, infrastructure, energy and real estate sectors. The team is in a growth cycle reflecting the success of the team and the wider firm in key sectors.

Work

We specialise in strategic projects and complex dispute resolution. With a strong UK-wide presence, clients include central and local government, utilities, developers, funder and investors, Tier 1 contractors as well as end-users. Clients include:

Affinity Water // Costain // RBS // EDF // The Crown Estate // Equitix // Highways England // Investec Bank // Transport for London

The range of work continues to grow and includes:

* Energy Infrastructure
* Transport Infrastructure
* Regeneration and commercial development and
* Dispute avoidance and resolution.

We are working on projects such as: the Thames Tideway Tunnel, HS2, nuclear new build, The O2, M4 and Filton Airport development.

Requirements

You will be an ambitious solutions-focused individual with an interest in the built environment keen to develop your knowledge and skills across a variety of project-types and sectors in what is a fast changing landscape for construction and infrastructure. You will have strong commercial and legal potential and an ability to adapt to meet the needs of the wide variety of matters you will experience at Burges Salmon. You will also have recent and relevant work experience of advising on construction and engineering projects and a desire to join and contribute to a highly capable, motivated and collaborative team.

We are committed to finding the right person for this role and are open to discussing flexible working patterns and office location.

We are also interested in candidates who are Scottish qualified. The firm will support and fund successful candidates to become dual qualified (if not already English law qualified), including study leave and exam hotel expenses.
