The Commercial Property Department provides legal expertise extending to cover all areas of real estate. We act for international and national corporations as well as all sizes of privately owned businesses, dealing with the full spectrum of business premises and property interests. This includes strategic acquisitions and disposals, all landlord and tenant matters, portfolio management, development work, finance and insolvency and receivership situations. There is often the need to deal with intellectually challenging matters and work which can only be considered as novel or bespoke. The work is spread across a number of sectors including office, retail and leisure developments (including licensed premises), as well as agricultural, manufacturing and industrial premises, construction work; including building contracts, negotiation of related warranty documentation; and a considerable amount of work for statutory bodies and other agencies.

Additionally we benefit from a healthy flow of introduced work from the other commercial teams within the firm, from corporate or litigation support to wider considerations within regulatory regimes.

Clients benefit from a partner-led approach and a close working team who understand the importance of excellent communication and a practical commercial attitude to transactions. Our Milton Keynes office is keen to grow. We are looking to recruit talented and ambitious individuals who are keen to build their career whilst at the same time making a significant contribution to the continued success of the department and the firm.

Our workload includes working for offshore investors with portfolios of prime retail units; advising on all Landlord and Tenant matters with strong covenant tenants.  Acquisitions and disposals with average values of £2million; leases with rental yields of £2m+ per annum, corporate support transactions valued up to £30m; together with a mixture of development work, corporate financing, infrastructure agreements; pension scheme property investments and other commercial property matters.

Ideally you should be a qualified solicitor with a healthy amount of commercial property experience; or an ambitious and commercially minded newly qualified solicitor or legal executive who wishes to advance their career. Equally it would be an opportunity for candidates returning to the law after a career break looking for a supportive and understanding environment. You should have knowledge of landlord and tenant matters and a broader exposure of commercial property transactions generally. The successful applicant will be a dynamic, strong, team player, with excellent communication skills and be able to use sound and professional judgment for problem solving; You should enjoy a challenge but with an awareness of exposure to risk.
