Summary

About Us

As a global top 10 law practice, Eversheds Sutherland provides legal advice and solutions to an international client base which includes some of the world’s largest multinationals

Our teams of lawyers around the world operate seamlessly to deliver the legal know-how and strategic alignment that clients need from their advisors to help further their business interests. Clients describe us as creative and well versed in cutting edge legal work – we listen well in order to understand how and where we can be most effective and add the greatest value.

The Team

MLS is a novel and pretty unique arrangement for the provision of legal services. In April 2018, Eversheds Sutherland won, via a competitive tender process, a multi-year managed legal services contract with a utilities client and took over the existing legal services team (On-Site Team) from the client’s former managed legal service provider.

The team is involved in advising the client on a very wide range of day-to-day legal matters including competition, projects and planning, regulation, construction, real estate, commercial contracts, tax, disputes, energy, employment and health and safety.

The Role

We have a exceptional opportunity for a Commercial Lawyer to join our MLS Commercial team in Reading. Reporting into the principal Lawyer within the team you can expect to be advising our client on a wide variety of commercial issues.

Due to the unique nature of the role, as an experienced commercial lawyer you will be required to have a wide breadth of experience to be able to provide concise legal advice, efficiently and effectively from day one. Having full responsibility for your own caseload and being able to think on your feet and act quickly are key components to the successful delivery of the role.

The MLS team works remotely at the moment due to Covid-19 lockdown but there is potential for continued remote working once lockdown eases, so we will consider applications from Reading, Cardiff, Cambridge and Birmingham.

Skills and Experience

* Qualified solicitor with at least 5 years’ post qualification experience (PQE) in commercial law.
* Knowledge of the water industry would be useful but is not essential.
* In-house experience useful (but not essential); we will consider candidates with experience working for public authorities (e.g. local councils) with demonstrable experience of public procurement.
* Experience of drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of legal documents.

You can expect a diverse, challenging and rewarding workload in a progressive and thriving team.

So if you’re looking for your next opportunity with a varied workload, we’d like to hear from you.

Please get in touch with Clare Stokes if you would like to discuss anything about our application process or have any questions about the role and she will be happy to assist.
