COMMERCIAL ENERGY LAWYER – BIRMINGHAM
We are currently looking to recruit a commercial lawyer with energy sector expertise - 3-6 years PQE to join the Commercial Team in our Birmingham office.

The Candidate Required
We are looking to recruit a commercial lawyer with energy sector expertise from 3 to 6 years PQE to join our Commercial Team based in our Birmingham office.
The role would involve undertaking a varied caseload from large projects through to small matters and is supporting household name clients both locally and nationally working across the Pinsent Masons network of offices. It will be a client facing role with excellent client contact opportunities. The candidate should have a solid understanding of the energy sector and the regulatory environment surrounding it. Ideally the candidate would have experience of regulated markets and low carbon innovation including on-site generation projects.
It is an excellent opportunity for a junior lawyer to join a dynamic and thriving practice where they can benefit from early responsibility. Whilst the role is primarily focused on supporting energy sector clients the breadth of the commercial practice means there will be opportunities to the successful candidate to get a broad range of experience if they wish. The clients are high profile within the energy sector (and within broader sectors) which means the work is high quality and dynamic.
The successful candidate will have gained experience in a large commercial or projects practice specialising in drafting, negotiating and advising clients on a wide range of commercial contracts including energy regulation and low carbon solutions. The experience would be broad and include long term supply agreements of goods and services, outsourcing agreements and project work. A good understanding of data protection and intellectual property law would be beneficial but is not essential.
Candidates must be technically excellent, commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development. They will be team players with a can-do attitude, strong client focused approach and an ability to 'think outside the box' and develop innovative solutions. They will also have a strong academic background and excellent communication and organisational skills.
