JOB TITLE Client and Matter Management Assistant (Fixed Term – 6 Months) Based in Edinburgh REPORTING TO

Senior Manager - Working Capital & Client and Matter Management JOB PURPOSE
To work as a member of the Client and Matter Management team to be instrumental in helping the team
achieve its key objectives of providing a "best in class" service to partners and colleagues. The
successful candidate will need to ensure that the appropriate risk controls and procedures are followed
when new clients and matters are being set up.

Initially the individual would primarily be involved with conflict checking and controls for our Business
Dispute & Asset Recovery Team potential new clients and matters. The role falls within the wider
Finance department and requires someone with good communication skills and able to work to tight
deadlines and deliver effectively under pressure. CORE TASKS
• Review the assessment of potential conflicts for all new client and matter take-on and highlighting

those clients and matters where it is believed a conflict may exist
• Ensure that all new and standing data for new and existing clients and matters are set up accurately
on the central finance system known as the Practice Management System
• Ensure that the firms client identification and verification procedures and client and matter risk
assessments has been fully complied with for all new and ongoing clients and matters and that all
necessary documentation is properly filed
• Ensure that all letters of engagement have been sent in all situations where required
• Consider the risk assessment of potential new and existing clients and matters
• Review and close matters
• Other ad-hoc tasks as and when required
• Be aware of Brodies' information security policies, and protect information from unauthorised access,
disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Able to juggle multiple priorities
• Adopts a flexible and proactive approach to work duties
• Organises and priorities time effectively to achieve deadlines
• Projects a professional image of the department and the firm at all times
• An ability to build relationships and work effectively with other team members and the wider firm
• Excellent attention to detail SKILLS
• Previous knowledge and understanding of Anti Money Laundering Regulations preferred
• Good communication skills both written and verbal
• Can demonstrate experience of working successfully in a challenging environment
• Works as part of a team to provide an effective service to the department and the firm
• Presents a professional image and provide a high-quality service to partners and colleagues at all

times
• Competence with all IT applications and seeks out opportunities to enhance IT literacy through
training
• Previous experience in a similar role within a professional services/financial service business is
preferred
