An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Childcare locum to join a South Devon Local Authority.

The team is seeking an individual who will bring with them experience and knowledge of childcare law as well as practical knowledge of the wider public sector. Knowledge and experience of local government is desirable but not essential.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister. You will be an effective advocate and communicator with excellent drafting skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision.

Duties will include:

  • Managing a caseload consisting of childcare and related matters
  • Advising and preparing applications to Court
  • Representing the Council in Court
  • Preparing cases and interviewing witnesses
  • Drafting papers in connection with proceedings and statements
  • Undertaking legal work necessary to manage the caseload fully (with Legal Officer administrative support)

This legal services team is progressive and inclusive. They are fully supportive of promoting a work life balance and offer a range of flexible working opportunities. Arrangements including flexible workings hours, term time working, part time, compressed hours, home working and job share arrangements will all be considered.

Hourly rate is negotiable dependent upon experience but candidates can expect an offer of £35 - £45 per hour.
