Business Analyst/Development Team Leader (SYS023)

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

As an integral part of the Development team, you will effectively lead a geographically dispersed Agile team, driving efficiency of the team whilst acting as a bridge between the business and Technology Department.

You will ensure robust functional and technical specifications and backlogs are created and managed effectively through to successful product delivery.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Lead

* Leadership of direct reports, including 1-2-1s, 6 monthly review process, motivation and quality monitoring
* Set clear team goals and evaluate progress along the way
* Coach team members on achieving goals and developing necessary skills to get results
* Identify the team’s strengths and weaknesses, determining areas of opportunity and appropriate steps to improve on them, incorporating these into training plans
* Deal with any conduct and capability issues where appropriate
* Participate in capacity planning and recruitment of new team members

Business Analysis

* Be the champion of technical and business success
* Establish clear technical deliverables and set clear expectations to clearly defined business problems
* Participation in full project lifecycle, producing requirements and design proposals, whilst adhering to Agile & Lean methodologies and ensuring quality throughout
* Participation in the process from product owner approval to functional design, ensuring functionality and anticipated benefits are delivered
* Create, maintain and prioritise product backlogs
* Act as a reviewer and quality gate for analysis output
* Challenge development teams to ensure designs address the user requirements and the root cause
* Recognise changes within sphere of control that are likely to impact other systems / work streams and communicate effectively to stakeholders
* Participate in the QA / testing cycle and own the resolution of defects pertaining to requirements and design
* Work with other SMEs to document user guides, prepare training materials and training of end users
* Manage workload effectively to focus and progress on parallel delivery/releases
* Some Project Management tasks may be required to be undertaken until the team matures

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Proven leadership ability
* Excellent communication and influencing skills are essential
* Must have integrity and a desire to lead by example
* Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills are also essential
* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently to support and drive progress is essential
* Strong organisational skills to help monitor progress and keep team members motivated
* Strong problem solving and analytical skills with an attention to detail
* Ability to apply Agile and Lean thinking to address issues
* Experience of facilitating workshops and requirements elicitation, including change management and backlog refinement
* Good understanding of SDLC and DevOps/Agile methodologies
* Understanding of Agile project management approaches such as DSDM and Scrum
* Experience of building systems from planning to launch within an Agile development team
* Proven ability to work on multiple projects at one time
* Previous experience using Azure DevOps & Boards or similar
* A solid understanding of IT fundamentals and related issues
* Self-belief and a continuous improvement mindset are essential
* Experience using Six Sigma and Lean practices
* Some user interface design experience would be beneficial
