From a shifting geopolitical landscape to the exponential growth in FinTech, this is a time of unprecedented global change as well as within the legal industry. At Linklaters, we’re ready. We’re people you want to work with, generous with our time and ready to help. So, no matter what the future holds, with us you’ll be one step ahead.

Our teams are equipped with market-leading legal insights, a dedication to innovation and the determination to support and guide clients through this change. To ensure we can continue to be both legal advisors and business partners, we are seeking a committed, approachable and motivated Advisor in the Business Development & Marketing team for the Energy & Infrastructure practice to deliver best-in-class support to our client team in London.

Team description: From electric vehicles, to hydrogen; from oil and gas to renewables and nuclear; from digital infrastructure to smart cities, the Energy & Infrastructure practice at Linklaters is at the forefront of all elements of the energy transition, helping clients shape the future. We have a strong history of working alongside clients on some of their largest and most strategic deals, often being 'first in market'. We're committed to making a difference to the world we live in.

Our award-winning lawyers are equipped with market-leading legal insights, a dedication to innovation and the determination to support and guide clients through this change. To ensure we can continue to be both legal advisors and business partners, we are seeking a committed, approachable and motivated Advisor to deliver best-in-class support. As the nature of our work is global, you will also occasionally be supporting our international colleagues.

Specifically, your role will call on you to:

* Be responsible for pitching - taking an RFP and working alongside the partners, produce a tailored document to be sent to the client, liaising with pricing and risk where appropriate.

* Be innovative and proactive - take suggestions for the pursuit of business leads, events or processes to the lawyers and your line manager and work alongside them in developing an offering. This could be for a deal or a wider initiative. You'll be responsible for your own area of the practice to develop, but you'll also be hands on pitching across the full range of our sector and product offering.

* Write and manage awards, directories and league tables - these are a key part of the practice and clear and efficient submission of deals to league tables and awards as well as directory submissions are essential

The skills you'll need to succeed will include:

* Have a keen eye for detail. Ensuring that our deals are correctly written, formatting is consistent and and copy is error-free is key.

* Be organised. You'll need to be able to work to deadlines, but at the same time be flexible. Knowing what needs to be delivered and by when (as well as who is responsible) and being able to manage this around the workload of the lawyers to hit your targets. Equally vital are calmness under pressure and the determination to become an indispensable member of the team.

* Be positive and interested. This is a broad and innovative group of lawyers and there is something for everyone. Have an interest in the world around you, read the news headlines and ask questions. If you're not sure what you're being told or asked to do, ask! You'll soon see deals you've assisted with in the news!

* Be both a team player and able to work independently. The ability to flex your approach depending on the situation is important. This applies to both work-oriented tasks for the practice as well as becoming involved in the wider BD&M function.

These skills or qualifications will be advantageous:

* Have experience of law firm marketing. Understanding how a law firm operates and wins business is important.

* Pitch experience. You'll need to know how to dissect an RfP, ask questions of the lead partner to get the information you need to complete a first draft, and most importantly, be happy to roll up your sleeves to find the info and put the document together in the timeframe.

* Be IT literate in Outlook, CRM systems, MS Office.

* Have fluency in English.

Joining Team Linklaters will see you qualify for a range of benefits designed to reward the vital contribution you'll be making to our success. These include:

Health

Private Medical Insurance

Free in-house fitness centre and subsidised health club membership

On site GP service

Wealth

Contributory pension

Maternity/paternity/shared parental leave

Income protection

Lifestyle

Additional holiday/birthday leave

Matched giving

Travel insurance and season ticket loan

Option to join social and sporting clubs, including football, netball, choir and cycling

This list of duties and responsibilities above is not exhaustive. It is intended to describe the general content of, and requirements for, the performance of this job. As such, the role may also include the undertaking of additional tasks as required.

Job Offer Scams

Be alert to fictitious job opportunity posts and offers of employment which claim to be in the name of Linklaters. We have been made aware of various recruitment-related scams which ask for upfront payments, for example, for office equipment and promise start up bonuses and reimbursement in return for such payments. These scams often involve the use of email addresses similar to a genuine domain name. Genuine emails from Linklaters only use the domain of “@linklaters.com”. We will never ask you to make payments for office equipment or otherwise as part of our recruitment process. If you are in doubt about a job opportunity that appears to relate to our firm, please get in touch with us.

Pre-joiner screening

In the event that we make an offer to you, and where local legislation permits, we will conduct pre-engagement screening checks that may include but are not limited to your professional and academic qualifications, your eligibility to work in the relevant jurisdiction, any criminal records, your financial stability and references from previous employers. Your offer will be subject to the successful completion of these checks which will be initiated following your consent.

Equal Opportunities

As a responsible business, it is important that we represent the diversity of our people, our clients and our communities. We know that diversity makes us a better law firm and helps us attract the best talent, drive innovation with diversity of thought, and deliver the best experience to everyone who comes into contact with us. We recruit on the basis of merit, irrespective of age, disability, gender, gender identity, race or ethnicity, marital status, religion, sex, sexual orientation or any other status protected by the laws or regulations in the locations where we operate.

Selection decisions, and the reasons for those decisions, are recorded at each stage of the selection process. Selection criteria and, where appropriate, technical skills tests are in place to measure an individual’s ability for the safe and effective performance of a job. Those involved in recruitment and selection decisions and processes are also provided with guidance on diversity issues. If you require reasonable adjustments to be made during the selection process, please talk to a member of the recruitment team so that any required adjustments can be made in advance. Specific experience requirements advertised on a role do not intend to preclude applications from candidates who may have more or less experience. Our intention is only to indicate a guideline as to the necessary skills for the role as described.
