About Eversheds Sutherland:

Eversheds Sutherland is a growing international firm, operating around the globe from 66 offices in 32 countries. As one of the world’s largest corporate law firms, you could be part of an international corporate law team which advises a range of clients from some of the world’s largest corporations to growing and start-up businesses that emerge from our region.

As a lawyer in the Eversheds Sutherland corporate team you will be supported by a host of experienced, sector-focused experts who provide an unrivalled and seamless international offering.

We are looking for talented Corporate lawyers from Associate to Principal Associate level to join the Corporate team in Manchester (minimum 2 years' PQE up to around 8 years' PQE). The roles will suit driven, confident candidates with demonstrable skills within the Corporate space who also want to develop and thrive within an exciting and international focused team. If you are the right candidate, we will improve your current package.

Key responsibilities:

The roles will involve primarily transactional work in a range of areas covering M&A (public and private and both domestic and international cross border), joint ventures, equity capital markets and private equity. Candidates are to have a general M&A skill set but with a potential to develop a specialisation in any one or more of these areas as their careers progress.

You can expect to benefit from opportunities in the local market, but also in respect of wider national and international initiatives within Eversheds Sutherland.

You will be required to contribute proactively and enthusiastically to business development activity with the internal and external market and you will also be expected to develop close working relationships with appropriate office contacts throughout the business both nationally and internationally.

Quality at Work

The Manchester corporate team has an enviable client base acting for a larger number of the region’s listed companies, a growing private equity client base and exposure to cross jurisdictional transactions. Some of our clients include: Manchester Airport Group, Lookers plc, Four Seasons Health Care, University of Manchester, Carlyle, Ineos, EMR, Amazon, Urban Splash, Holidaybreak, LivingBridge, Equistone and H2 to name but a few.

There are numerous opportunities to participate in firm wide and client secondments, as experienced by the majority of those in the current team.

The team itself has continued to grow in terms of both its client base and revenue and this will continue in line with the firm’s wider growth strategy.

Skills and experience:

You will be able to demonstrate a high level of technical skill and competence, particularly in company law, and have the ability to take into consideration the commercial impact of your advice when applying technical expertise to decisions. Full training and support will be given to those looking to learn more about the world of capital markets and private equity.

Key competencies:

Eversheds Sutherland is a modern, progressive law firm. We think differently and we have built a culture where individual skills and personalities can shine through.

In terms of our expectations of our team members, we believe:

• you will have the ability to deal with the competing demands of clients which arise from involvement in a number of separate transactions at once and have the ability to work flexibly to tight deadlines;

you will be able to demonstrate the delivery of excellent client care. Due to the nature of the work in this role, drive, enthusiasm and ability to work well as part of a team are vital;

• you will be able to build great relationships with colleagues you work with in other practice groups and ideally will have some experience of supporting junior colleagues;

• you will demonstrate good networking skills and have an ability to build strong client relationships and be able to demonstrate an ability to drive for more clients and work; and

• you will be commercially aware and be willing to participate in group training and know how.

At Eversheds, we believe that innovation comes from a culture of genuine equality and diversity and we are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments individuals may require in the recruitment process, or once in post. We are an LGBT inclusive employer and are Stonewall Corporate Champions

Eversheds endeavours to recruit and fill vacancies directly. However, when we do need to engage with agencies, Eversheds operates within a preferred supplier list.
