THE TEAM

The size and strength of Taylor Wessing's IP & Media Group, both in the UK and in our international offices, and the variety of the clients we represent across all business sectors means we offer outstanding experience of advising on every area of IP and media law.

ROLE SUMMARY

The firm's IP & Media Group currently comprises around 20 fee earners including six partners, and supported by about 10 non-fee earners (secretaries and trade mark formalities staff).

The associate will be involved in both contentious and non-contentious matters and the work may include any of the following areas:

advising on copyright and related rights, as well as database rights, in a range of sectors including music, publishing, news, advertising and audio-visual content.

trade mark, domain name and design disputes advising on, drafting and negotiating licences and other agreements relating to trade marks, copyright and designs, including merchandising, sponsorship and franchise agreements

advising on the management and protection of our clients' global trade mark portfolios including advising on filing strategies, and mark clearances, and conducting oppositions to conflicting trademarks and revocation proceedings

advising on content and publishing matters, including copy clearance advice, use in advertising and issues such as web scraping

advising on image rights, endorsement agreements and sponsorship

advice on advertising compliance and regulatory issues; and

corporate IP support in the context of M&A and other transactions.

advising on copyright and related rights, as well as database rights, in a range of sectors including music, publishing, news, advertising and audio-visual content.

advice on advertising compliance and regulatory issues; and

corporate IP support in the context of M&A and other transactions.

The role involves a high level of client contact and the associate will conduct client meetings independently as well as under supervision.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE

Candidates must be UK qualified solicitors, with 2-4 years PQE and preferably from a firm with a leading intellectual property practice.

The following experience/skills are essential:

A demonstrable enthusiasm for 'soft' IP

A high level of client contact and responsibility for client files

Self-motivation coupled with the ability to work closely with other team members

Strong academics and technical ability

Well organised and able to manage workload in face of many competing demands on time

A commercial focus, sound judgment and good business development skills.

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Working Pattern: The standard Firm working hours are 9.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday although we ask for flexibility from our employees as necessary to accommodate business needs.
