The Department

Mishcon de Reya LLP has one of the largest and most comprehensive
Dispute Resolution offerings in London; over half of the Firm's
lawyers are litigators. From a core of Fraud litigators we have built
a team that covers most major areas of the Dispute Resolution space
including: Finance and Banking, White Collar Crime &
Investigations, Tax, Competition and Anti-Trust, International
Arbitration, Intellectual Property and Fraud Defence. Each dispute
requires a bespoke solution, sometimes aggressive, sometimes measured.
We fight our client’s corner: we take ownership of our client's
dispute so that we can resolve it as effectively as possible. We
fiercely guard our clients' interests.

The Group

Our Finance & Banking Disputes Group is one of the leading
banking litigation groups in London when it comes to dealing with
large finance disputes, in particular in the private equity, hedge
funds and asset manager space.

We have particular strength in dealing with disputes arising out of
mergers & acquisitions, finance transactions and the miss-selling
of complex financial products. We are known for our low levels of
conflicts and are able to act for all sides of the industry, from
banks and other financial institutions, to corporate borrowers and investors.

Our lawyers are not merely external advisers to our clients, but form
a core part of their business, proactively working with them to
analyse risks, protect assets, resolve disputes and therefore build
their businesses.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to Partners and Solicitors on multiple
litigation matters within the Finance & Banking Group;

• Independently manage various aspects of cases;

• Liaise with clients and third parties in a timely, professional and
courteous manner;

• Draft complex legal letters to clients, third parties and opposing Solicitors;

• Be responsible for the drafting of witness statements;

• Be responsible for the organisation of documents in preparation for court;

• Attend client calls and meetings and follow-up on actions where required;

• Manage e-disclosure exercises as and when required and liaise with
third party providers where needed;

• Be responsible for achieving agreed levels of billing and time recording;

• Develop relationships with Solicitors and Partners across the wider
Litigation Department and across other Departments;

• Attend business development activities both internally and externally;

• Be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines whilst managing a
diverse and busy caseload;

• Ensure the confidentiality and security of all client documentation

and information; and

• Take responsibility for and attend to self-development.

Required Experience

• Trained and qualified with a reputable private practice law firm,
chambers of business;

• Experience of working on some complex finance and banking
litigation cases essential;

• Experience of working in finance or a banking environment, whether
through a secondment or other relevant experience desirable but not essential;

• Previous experience of working on fraud-related cases, in
particular financial fraud, investigation advice, with some regulatory
advice and/or white-collar crime experience desirable;

• Experience of injunctions, asset freezing and other relevant orders
is highly desirable; and

• Proven experience of drafting witness statements.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they are:

• Committed to building a career with a focus on banking and finance disputes;

• Have excellent written and interpersonal skills in order to meet
the drafting and presentation aspects of the role;

• Client focussed with an ability to command the trust and confidence
of our clients who expect a first class service;

• Willing to support clients out of hours and on weekends, providing
urgent round-the-clock advice;

• Interested in undertaking business development activities both
internally and externally;

• Able to manage all client work allocated by the Partners and other
Solicitors within the Group and sometimes across the wider Department; and

• Able to exercise high standards of client care in a professional
and pleasant manner.
