The department

We have a substantial IP practice with over 50 lawyers, attorneys and specialist support staff practising in this area and are recognised in Chambers, Legal 500 and WTR for a number of IP related fields including trade mark filing and prosecution, IP litigation, advertising, brand management, sport and media and entertainment.

Our Patent prosecution client base is varied; however, much work is focussed on the following sectors: automotive, wind power and electronics.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a newly qualified to 3 PQE UK and/or European Patent Attorney, with a technical background in electrical or mechanical technologies. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player and have experience working in a high performing and collaborative environment.

Our ideal candidate will:

* Have solid UK, EPO and international Patent experience from private practice;

* Have a degree in physics, engineering, or materials science, or similar related field;

* Have significant experience in the drafting, filing and prosecution of electrical / mechanical patents;

* Be commercially focussed and have a problem-solving approach;

* Be keen to engage in business development and extracurricular activities;

* Be flexible, highly organised, with a hands-on approach and able to prioritise the work and deadlines effectively; and

* Be keen to be part of a multidisciplinary team of IP lawyers, and to collaborate with IP Litigators and other Commercial Lawyers.

Additional information

IT skills required:

* Competency in MS Office suite; and

* Time recording experience.

Personal attributes:

* Commercially astute with strong analytical skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication;

* Team player;

* Excellent time and deadline management skills; and

* Someone who is keen to enhance their professional as well as personal development.

Professional qualifications required:

* Qualified UK and/or European Patent Attorney (exceptional finals standard candidates will be considered)

* Excellent academic background in a technical discipline
