The department

We have vast experience of restructuring, establishing tax efficient, and robust corporate structures for early stage and developing technology businesses.

We regularly advise on angel and venture capital funding for both investors and investees and our lawyers assist technology businesses on securing, protecting and exploiting their intellectual property.

We assist our technology clients grow and exploit their businesses through licensing agreements, manufacturing agreements, research and development projectts, joint ventures, cloud computing, e-commerce solutions while ensuring they meet their statutory and regulatory obligations.

Purpose of job

* The work will involve a good understanding of intellectual property and general commercial law, and preferably also some experience in having advised on software and other information technology issues.

* Ideally you will have some interest, or experience of advising clients, in the cleantech, life sciences and/or digital tech sectors.

* The role requires excellent drafting skills for agreements and other documents, an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and others, and the confidence to negotiate contract terms and commercial issues.

* You will be expected to take ‘ownership’ of your matters and progress these with clients and others, often without the direct involvement of a Partner (but with the necessary supervision and guidance as required).

* Participation in business development initiatives and activities will also be required, so you should have some experience of writing articles for internal and external publication, and helping to prepare materials, for marketing to commercial and technology clients.

The candidate

Idealling seeking a Solicitor or Associate of 2-5PQE with training from a well regarded city, regional or national firm with a well developed knowledge in all areas of commercial / commercial technology.

He/she would be expected to play an active role in marketing and practice development as well as providing a high level of service to existing clients.
