Birketts’ team of over 40 corporate lawyers has the legal expertise, range of experience and depth of resource to support and advise businesses on a wide variety of corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions and disposals, start-ups and new ventures, re-organisations, and private equity and venture capital fund-raisings. Our clients include entrepreneurs, private equity and venture capital funds and financial institutions, owner-managed and privately owned businesses, and UK and international public companies.

Our highly regarded Banking and Finance team are regularly instructed by lenders and investors, as well as borrowers and companies seeking finance. Our team's expertise covers a variety of financial products and services across a wide range of industry sectors, including:

* Acquisition finance, including debt and equity funding of acquisitions, takeovers (both private and public)

* Mergers, MBOs, MBIs and BIMBOs

* Property finance, including advising on funding acquisitions of land, investment property and development/construction

* Funding

* Syndicated loans

* Venture capital and private equity and/or debt investments

* Development capital

* Re-financings, restructurings/work-outs

* Private finance and loan arrangements

* Asset finance/asset backed lending

* Funding in relation to franchise arrangements

* Hedging transactions

Accountabilities

* Ensure you are aware of and comply with all information security policies of the organisation relevant to your business role;

* Report any actual or potential security breaches; and

* Contribute to risk assessment where required.

* All employees have the authority to act to prevent an information security incident from occurring or escalating, where possible.

The candidate

The candidate will ideally possess c1-4 years' experience gained within a highly regarded city, regional or national firm with a well-developed knowledge in banking and finance.

Strong technical drafting and negotiation skills are essential as is the ability to deliver a strong client-focused service, giving clear, timely practical legal advice. He/she should demonstrate an enthusiasm for and/or experience in business development and will be expected to play an active role in building and maintaining relationships.
