Assistant Lawyer – Professional Misconduct and Crime
We are looking for an experienced Lawyer to join our team of committed and passionate professionals in our Newcastle Office to run a varied caseload of litigated and non-litigated professional misconduct cases

Having the confidence and ability to take appropriate daily decisions on cases to ensure swift progression, will be key to your success. As a qualified lawyer with at least 2 years’ case handling experience, you will be expected to conduct and manage all aspects of your caseload, including taking appropriate decisions involving the exercise of judgment, subject to supervision and supporting and assisting on more complex cases as part of the wider team. You will representing clients predominantly from the health and education sector.
The role requires managing a caseload where it is alleged that the registrant's fitness to practise is impaired through misconduct and or competence. You will be preparing those cases for hearings before panels. The cases can vary from individuals facing allegations relating to clinical failings to allegations of sexual misconduct.
Whilst knowledge of professional misconduct work and knowledge of rules of procedure and, representation process for professional regulatory bodies including the HCPC, NMC, SWE and TRA is preferred it is not essential. There can be a cross over with employment and criminal cases and therefore the role may be suitable for someone with experience in either of these disciplines.
The role requires excellent prioritisation skills and meticulous attention to detail to enable you to construct clear and effective arguments, yielding the best result for our clients. You will need to show empathy and understanding, providing a professional legal service with a personal touch.
