NALP host first ever National Paralegal Day

Last week, the National Association of Licensed Paralegals hosted the first ever National Paralegal Day.

Hosted on 14th March, the event was held at the House of Commons. It was sponsored by Fabian Hamilton MP, and MC’d by actor and comedian Rob Hitchmough (best known for his role in Spooks, Eastenders and Brookside).

National Paralegal day was created to celebrate the work that Paralegals do, as well as their contribution to the legal profession. Paralegals are often the unsung heroes of the legal profession. They support solicitors and their teams helping them to deliver high quality services to clients.

The evening was also an opportunity to hand out the first ever National Paralegal Day awards, which recognised outstanding contribution to the profession. The winners were as follows:

High Achiever, NALP Level 4 Diploma in Paralegal Studies 2018/19: Deborah Brown, Diane Finister, Mia Cooman and Layla Powell

High Achiever, NALP Level 7 Diploma in Paralegal Practice 2018/19: Gemma Dann

In Recognition of Services to the Paralegal Profession 2018/19: Caroline Spencer-Boulton, and Chennel Scott

“Paralegals are often misunderstood and not given the recognition they deserve. We want to change this and let our members know they are appreciated and are an important part of the legal profession. National Paralegal Day and the evening event at the House of Commons is a great way to do this, and a wonderful opportunity to meet our members and thank them for all their hard work.” said Amanda Hamilton, CEO of National Association of Licenced Paralegals.
