LOCUM COMMUNITY SERVICE SOLICITOR - SURREY
Local Council is currently seeking an experienced (3+ PQE) locum Community Services Solicitor for an immediate start to cover for a period of at least one month, to be responsible for the preparation and conduct of a full range of complex casework and advice work for social services and education departments and deal with Judicial Review casework.
The requirements
A qualified solicitor of barrister with a current practising certificate
Knowledge of child protection, education and social services law and procedures
Understanding and working knowledge relating to Local Government procedures and processes
Ability to research and advise across a wide range of areas involving social services legislations e.g. mental health, asylum seekers, public interest immunity and community care
Able to work with other departments, good communication skills, prioritise and meet deadlines
Good time management and organisational skills
Awareness of the Councils Equalities policy and how it applies to the role
Able to work within a team, work under pressure and deal with unforseen circumstances
Must have Advocacy experience, with the ability to demonstrate high competences and effective working practices
Experience of using a computer and case management system
There will occasionally be the need to give out of hours telephone advice
