My client is a major UK law firm renowned for the positive and practical way they work. Their no-nonsense approach and wide-ranging expertise help clients achieve their objectives across many sectors, both public and private.
Their commitment to clarity is revealed in their understanding of client objectives, their capacity to shed light on complex legal issues and the straightforward, unequivocal nature of their advice. Their culture is open; their people practical and engaging.
About Their Projects Group
The team has 10 Partners and 15 Associates and draws together specialists in PFI, energy, construction, planning and public sector work. The Projects group is a fast growing, dynamic and integrated team and is committed to the following areas: projects including education (BSF in particular), social housing, leisure, emergency services, health, energy and waste.
Waste Infrastructure Team
Their Waste Infrastructure team sits within their Projects Group and comprises 1 Partner and 3 Associates. It is also a fundamental part of their cross-departmental Waste Group made up of 6 Partners and over 20 Associates from across the firm including their highly respected Environment and Minerals team based in their national office.
The team is primarily involved in the procurement of waste treatment infrastructure as an alternative to landfill. They advise sponsors, waste disposal authorities, technology providers, contractors and funders on waste treatment projects primarily in the UK.
A significant part of the work of the team is working on projects procured under the Private Finance Initiative and the team is currently working on 10 active waste projects under the Governments £2 billion waste infrastructure PFI Programme.
They advise both the private and public sector with an impressive client list.
The team works closely with the firm's Sustainable Energy which provides high quality legal advice in relation to energy and climate change related regulatory and policy matters ranging from emissions trading, under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and Kyoto Protocol's project mechanisms and UK specific policies such as the Climate Change Levy and the new Carbon Reduction.
