Our client is a successful law firm with a distinguished reputation built up over its many years of practicing. At present they have a vacancy within their International Private Client team, which provides specialist legal advice on the whole spectrum of private and business issues, helping clients to preserve and transmit their family assets and wealth. This department is described in the 2008 edition of Legal 500 as having 'significantly developed the international side of its practice', citing the partners who are highly experienced in offshore matters. You will be advising on the whole range of legal, personal and business issues of importance to international private clients and trustees. Similar to recent work: ·Setting up ownership structures for UK properties to avoid UK inheritance and income tax issues for non-domiciled UK residents. ·Organising the division and new tax-efficient management of global property interests after the break-up of the client's marriage. ·Restructuring the share capital of a UK private company to enable the UK resident but non-domiciled shareholder to settle the shares into an offshore trust without incurring a capital gains tax liability. ·Giving advice to a prominent international businessman in relation to family law issues and handling the international press interest. ·Acting in the sale of a major historic estate owned by international trustees with charitable trusts. ·Advising on the UK tax consequences of restructuring US trusts on behalf of the UK beneficiaries. ·Obtaining non-UK domicile rulings for UK residents in a range of circumstances. ·Advising a US national on an immigration appeal outside the normal time limits. The ideal candidate will have at least three years recent experience from a city or large regional law firm. The firm offers a competitive rate salary with an attractive benefits package.
