Reporting to the Head of Legal Services for this public sector body you will lead, and manage and provide corporate legal advise, maintain propriety in council business, manage and deliver a wide range of legal services to the council including reviewing he economy, efficiency and effectiveness of all work activities, services and methods of the service, recommend change, identify resource implications and implement changes .
You will attend regulatory committees and advise on planning and licencing matters, advise on procurement and contract law, advise the council on constitution and statutory powers, prepare and attend civil courts in the recovery of land, prosecute cases and appeals, prepare and attend tribunals, defending against civil actions and prosecutions. You will manage a team of 5 including a senior legal executive, trainee solicitor and conveyance and have financial responsibility for delivering services within budget and timescales.
You will be a Qualified Solicitor /Barrister with experience of managing your own caseload without supervising from within a local authority. You will have experience of licencing law, prosecutions and appeals, employment and other tribunal proceedings. You Will already be an accomplished manager.
