The successful applicant will join the Personal Injury Team which advises insurers and corporate clients in their defence of claims relating to fatal accidents, catastrophic injuries, rehabilitation, employer liability, product liability, sports injuries, aviation injuries, occupational stress, repetitive strain, occupational cancers, new diseases, noise- induced hearing loss and severe road traffic accidents. Services cover both high value specialist claims and smaller, less complex ones. In addition to this, the team provides advice on fraudulent claims and coverage disputes. You will be responsible for the drafting of pleadings, witness statements as well as briefs to counsel, negotiating third party costs and drafting Points of Disputes as well as being given the responsibility to have direct contact with clients in relation to file handling, marketing and business development and seminars, which may in turn provide the opportunities for secondment with these clients. In order to maintain the high standard of work the team is renowned for it is integral that the successful lawyer is motivated and can work towards productivity and fee income targets as well as client Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The ideal candidate will have a high level of familiarity with quantifying claims (including care and earnings), excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to work unsupervised and on your own initiative. Our clients require a high standard commercial service and knowledge as well as a lawyer who is able to operate in a flexible and co-operative manner and who also enjoys sharing knowledge.
