Main Purpose of Job:
Working with the Corporate Communications Manager, the Corporate Communications Executive is responsible for all aspects of both internal and external communications.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
External communications
Media relations Supporting the Corporate Communications Manager in the firms ongoing media relations work. This will include preparing and distributing press releases, generating and editing articles and enhancing the firms relationships with target journalists.
Core and contact literature - Supporting the Corporate Communications Manager and the e-marketing team in the origination, production, delivery and ongoing management of communications material for clients, targets and other contacts. This includes online and off-line material.
Website Providing high-quality content for the firms website and publishing it to the site using the firms content management system.
Awards Preparing awards submissions. This includes gathering, assessing, writing and editing material and supplementary information, liaising with internal designers to produce final submissions and providing feedback.
Legal 500 and Chambers directories - Project managing the annual directory submissions process for Chambers UK and Legal 500. Liaise with the PR partner network to generate submissions in all core areas, proofing, editing and delivering submissions to deadlines.
Miscellaneous Providing copywriting and other support on miscellaneous communications projects e.g. words for various directories, advertising copy, beauty parade documents. Competitor monitoring.
Internal communications
In-house magazine - Responsible for researching and writing excellent copy and organising photography as directed by the magazine editor.
Wallpaper Managing and co-ordinating the on-screen wallpaper slot. This includes taking a brief from internal clients, liaising with designers, presenting concepts and delivering finished designs to meet that brief.
Chatroom Managing the monthly chatroom (x10 per year) including promotion of the event, co-ordinating with IT, facilitating during the chatroom and providing follow-up reports.
Notice boards Responsibility for the notice board timetable and implementation.
Internal Communications Network Providing support to ensure we maximise the potential of this firmwide group.
Intranet Finding and writing high-quality content for the firms intranet. Using the firms content management system. Supporting internal clients in maximising the opportunity to raise / maintain internal profile. Help maintain the corporate communications teams pages.
Account management Implementing communications plans for specific groups and teams.
Projects Implementing various internal communications projects for legal and support teams.
Firmwide forum Supporting the organisation, content and evaluation of the annual firmwide forum the senior / managing partner presentations to the firm.
The Corporate Communications Executive will focus on specific internal client groups, providing a full communications service to help those clients meet their business objectives.
They will be expected to support and contribute to the teams strategic advisory sessions and will also be expected to maintain the teams high standards of technical and service excellence. During the next 18 months we also anticipate introducing new internal communications tools e.g. web-casting.
This role requires the ability to produce a high volume of excellent written copy often to tight deadlines.
Person SpecificationKey Skills and Experiences:
Educated to degree level
Outstanding writing skills, preferably from a business background, with faultless grammar and spelling
Self-motivated team player used to working under pressure from multiple clients and delivering excellent client service
An understanding of the strategic value of communications
Strong interest in current affairs and the daily news agenda
Professional firm experience desirable but not essential
