FAMILY PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT LAWYER - LONDON CITY - PART TIME
Well established global firm seeks PSL to work within the Family department alongside current Family PSL. The role is part time and the work pattern could be either, 3 full time days a week from 9am 5pm or 9.30am 5.30pm or 4 part time days a week from 10am 4pm.
Skills and Experience required The ideal candidate will have an excellent academic background with a sound knowledge of Family law. Candidates should have 3-4 years PQE gained within family. Exposure to high net worth clients would be advantageous.
Operating in and supporting a busy team, the ideal candidate will need to be a team player. The Firm is proud of its high quality customer service and attention to detail and strong professional ethics are also key requirements.
Benefits The salary will be set in accordance with the candidate's PQE. PSLs' salaries are set considering the Firm's pay scales for solicitors, discounted by 10%. A comprehensive benefits package is also included.
List of duties Duties will include :
1. Information gathering
- from Fee earners/secretaries know how and know who
- case and legislation update (including as appropriate budget, statutory instruments, practice directions, civil procedure etc.)
- monitoring media sources eg newspaper reports, journals, websites, etc.
2. Collating, indexing, updating and maintaining know-how files and know how database
3. Information dissemination
- to Fee earners
- liaison with other PSL's and the library
4. Preparation of internal update bulletins, quarterly newsletter, press releases, marketing presentations
- editorial role
- contribution of some articles
- collation of fee earner contributions
5. Administration of precedent bank
- collation and formatting of fee earner contributions
- Drafting and updating precedents to take account of recent developments
6. Training
- taking on the role of training rep for the department
- preparing training schedules
- organising and preparing for regular update meetings, based around the bulletin
- trainee training in conjunction with fee earners
- overseeing CPD points for the department
- co-ordinating cross departmental training
- co-ordinating external courses
7. Library liaison
- including overseeing departmental library
8. Research
- provide support/guidance to fee earners
- PSLs will not be required to do client-specific research
9. Firm wide Know-how project
- development of know how system
- input on IT "tools" and "systems"
- attendance at firm wide Know-how meetings
