PROJECTS ASSOCIATE (SUSTAINABLE ENERGY) - LONDON CITY
Major UK law firm renowned for the positive and practical no-nonsense approach and wide-ranging expertise are looking for a Projects Associate 4+ PQE to deal with sustainable energy issues.
The Projects Group draws together specialists in PFI, energy, construction, planning and public sector work and is a fast growing, dynamic and integrated team
Energy Practice
The core of our Energy team sits within the Projects Group and is a fundamental part of the cross-departmental Climate Change and Energy Group. It is primarily involved in the procurement of low carbon energy and multi-utility solutions for developers, advising property owners, developers and commercial/ industrial users on the procurement of energy solutions and on utility regulation as it applies to them.
About the Role
You will be working closely with Partners and Associates within the team as well as with the transactional associates from across the firm and will be involved in:
Some of the largest multi-utility projects and low carbon projects in the country.
High quality legal advice on maters of energy, climate change and utility regulation, drafting, negotiating etc.
Helping to create novel, sustainable solutions, integrating energy, water and waste.
You will be involved in industry sectors undergoing rapid change.
You will be expected to adopt an innovative approach whilst being able to borrow from, but not be restricted by, industry practice preferably across a range of sectors.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the team, including marketing and business development activities as well as participating in training programmes and market updates.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
We are looking for an Associate with at least 4 years PQE and some relevant experience of energy, utilities or environment projects gained in the UK. This could have been gained in a leading law firm or whilst working in industry, for example, for an energy or utility supplier or an energy intensive industry.
You should be able to combine your existing experience with a commercial and innovative approach to delivering sustainable solutions.
You should have strong drafting skills and be proactive with the ability to manage a number of transactions at the same time.
You should also be able to demonstrate experience of:
Drafting and negotiating project documentation
Regulation in the utility sector
Working with some aspect of climate change, waste or water policy and regulation
Business development
