Job Description

Employment Solicitor – 3 Years PQE - wanted for excellent role with established Manchester law firm. Salary to £35k.

You will assist in the employment group with a mixture of non-contentious and contentious employment matters. The role offers a broad range of challenging work and the opportunity to take on an increasing personal caseload under excellent supervision.

You will provide a cost effective service giving sound and timely legal advice to a variety of clients whilst gaining a commercial understanding of the business of the client and tailor advice as appropriate.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

- assist in a broad range of employment work and to take on an increasing varied personal caseload under broad supervision.

- advise clients on a broad range of employment matters including:

• preparation of employment and benefits documentation;

• termination of employment (including redundancy and use of disciplinary procedures);

• preparation and presentation of cases in Employment Tribunals;

• advising generally on matters of unfair dismissal, breach of contract and unlawful discrimination;

• advising on the employment aspects of corporate transactions including the TUPE Regulations

• advising on maternity issues discrimination law.

- assist with marketing and the development of new clients including contributing to the employment newsletter and giving talks and writing articles when required.

- take responsibility for own files and manage all aspects of client work in line with the firm’s quality control procedures.

- draft relevant documentation observing house style.

- undertake research and liaise with the library when necessary.

- keep up to date with developments in the law, attend all appropriate training sessions and ensure CPD obligations are met.

- manage workflow to secretarial and support staff.
