Job Description

My client is a vibrant commercial law firm that prides itself on its dynamism and ambitions. They have a modern, fresh approach where you will find plenty of opportunity to develop your career.

They are constantly growing and have over 100 employees, many recruited from some of the best City and regional practices.  They compete at the top end of the legal market and are dedicated to maintaining their reputation for first class legal advice and high quality service. They practise in all areas of business law and private client services. The Legal 500 ranks them as a 'Regional Heavyweight' and recommends them as 'the clear county leader, fielding a dynamic corporate and commercial practice that benefits from some highly experienced specialists.'

They know they can only ever be as good as the people they employ, and offer exciting career opportunities for the right candidates. As an Investor in People employer, they are committed to their people and their progression. They expect a lot, but also believe strongly in a good work/life balance.

You will be working with lawyers of the highest calibre who have found a truly viable alternative career option outside London. They have a diverse range of clients who are demanding in their needs and who look to them to provide them with legal services comparable to the top City firms.

They are a team of very ambitious, committed and hard working people, and their approach is to 'make it happen'. Their lawyers will always go the extra mile and possess the inter-personal skills which are so vital to building lasting relationships with their clients.

Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for a talented and ambitious lawyer (3-6 years PQE) to join the employment team. The department is expanding and this is a great opportunity to develop your career and gain broad generalist experience in a leading regional firm. The employment team is highly recommended by Chambers UK and Legal 500, receiving top rankings in both guides.

The employment team offers specialist advice on a wide range of employment issues, mainly to employers but also to senior employees.

Much of the work is reactive, in that they are helping clients to resolve problems which have already arisen. However, an increasing amount of time is spent on proactive efforts in assisting clients to avoid problems arising in the future by reviewing their policies, procedures and documentation. They also provide bespoke in-house training.

The employment work includes:

* Unfair and wrongful dismissal claims
* Redundancy schemes
* Discrimination claims
* Hiring and firing senior executives
* TUPE in relation to business transfers
* Restrictive covenants

Duty of fidelity and confidentiality:
* Policies, procedures, employee handbooks and contracts
* These are exciting times and they would like to hear from candidates who want to be part of their future growth and who can make a real difference.

A market-leading salary and an outstanding benefits package await the right candidate.

Person / Experience Required:
* 3-6 years PQE
* Excellent knowledge of employment law
* Experience of both contentious and non-contentious work
