A Legal Secretary/PA with experience in Employment law is required for Chester office. Salary to £15k.
Our client is a well established Law firm based in Chester. They are currently seeking an experienced Legal Secretary/Assistant to join their busy team.
Candidates must have excellent word-processing and audio-typing skills and preferably previous experience as a legal secretary or experience of working in an alternative professional office
Main purpose of job
To provide audio typing, filing and other administrative duties
To provide support and assistance to all Fee Earners within the department by assisting with lower level fee earning duties, basic client queries, and some administration duties related to client files and team management
The preparation of statements and trial/tribunal documents
Key tasks include:
To undertake certain elements of fee-earning work under supervision. In particular:
File creation; statement drafting and liaison with clients in respect of the same
Generation of suitable client care correspondence
Attendance on clients for routine instructions and signing
Liaison with Union offices and Union representatives to arrange appointments
Closure of files
Responsible for dealing with more complex phone enquiries e.g. new/cold calls or other enquiries, as well as making outgoing phone enquiries and completing investigative work on the telephone
Assisting clients in person, i.e., to explain the contents of a tribunal application/response and guide the signing of the same
Maintaining file records and administration of both Union and non-union claims including assisting with the management of the team by arranging and keeping the records for team meetings and maintaining records for various administrative matters including time limits/complaints/file reviews/compliance with various systems/coordinating the fee earner's diaries and the like
Assisting all fee earners within the department on their files and matters when required.
Person Specification
Will ideally have previous experience in either a similar role or as a legal secretary
An effective communicator, both orally and in writing, having a good command of written English
Personally efficient and well organised, with good control of diary systems
Experience of working to deadlines, and being able to prioritise workload, as well as the workload of others
Strong team player, but can also work on own initiative
Special Requirements
Audio typing (at least 50 wpm)
Full and clean driving licence
