You could be forgiven for overlooking this advertisement as yet another mid-level Employment lawyer role at a Birmingham firm. But let me convince you otherwise. This firm has a fantastic reputation advising on all legal aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law in the context of transactions, where terms and conditions need to be transferred, and on a retained basis covering employment policy, litigation and claims and employee rights and benefits. Every lawyer has a broad spectrum of work, can undertake employment tribunal advocacy when required, and has regular exposure to client issues ranging from sensitive severance issues and boardroom disputes through to issues of corporate governance and more standard disciplinary and grievance issues. The team specialises in: Employment law aspects of all corporate finance transactions including Transfer of Undertakings Redundancies and dismissals. Service agreements, contracts of employment and staff handbooks. Employment policies ranging from performance, sickness and misconduct procedures to maternity and parental leave schemes. Boardroom disputes and severance claims. Employment litigation in the high court, county court and employment tribunal. International employment issues including dual contracts. Collective issues such as trade union recognition and industrial action. Discrimination (including sex, race and disability). General employment issues ranging from maternity rights to general contractual issues. The team act for a diverse client base reflecting their appeal to a wide audience of in-house lawyers and HR managers, including senior executives, charities, world-wide financial institutions and large co-operates. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in truly international advisory work and will therefore be a breath of fresh air for those associates used to undertaking dull corporate transaction work. The aim is to grow the team organically and therefore there is plenty of scope for expansion and excellent career prospects. The work is challenging but the environment is positive. In addition, you will be rewarded very well.
