Our client, this leading full service Top 30 City firm with a reputation for working for many of the leading names in the media and technology sectors is in the market for a 2+ pqe Media/Technology lawyer.
The team sits within the Commercial group which also includes the Intellectual Property and EU/Competition teams. The Commercial group is a core part of their practice generating over a quarter of the Firm's revenue. The Media/Technology team - voted TMT Team of the Year in 2008 have ambitious growth plans with a strategic objective for being the law firm of choice for the media, communications and technology sectors.
Their media work encompasses commercial and regulatory work across all the media sectors, especially film, broadcasting, music, publishing, sport and gambling. They advise many leading industry players on their most strategically important and complex transactions, as well as supporting corporate transactions.
On the Communications side they act for a wide range of communications providers providing commercial, regulatory and corporate advice led by two partners ranked as leading individuals by the various independent directories. The team handles corporate and commercial transactions in the sector for operators, service providers and customers, as well as working closely with colleagues in the Competition and Regulatory Group when required.
The Technology practice provide commercial legal advice on a broad range of technology, IT, outsourcing, ecommerce and licensing matters.
You will be involved in providing commercial legal advice on a broad range of telecoms, technology, IT, outsourcing, ecommerce and licensing matters. Candidates will work with a number of partners, but will focus on the technology/e-commerce/telecoms side. Although the work will primarily be commercial, candidates with a keen interest in telecoms need to have, or be willing to develop an understanding of the regulatory environment.
You will have at least 2 years' post-qualification relevant experience gained from a highly ranked practice or team. Previous telecoms experience is not essential, although they would be interested in talking to candidates with telecoms experience in private practice, in-house or at Ofcom. You will have the ability to communicate with and understand the business needs of clients and able to identify key commercial issues in complex documents or business transactions.
