A real gem of an opportunity for an IP/Technology lawyer to join this mid-sized City outfit known for its entrepreneurial approach, friendly & supportive environment and excellent retention rate. The IP, technology & commercial group currently comprises 5 partners and 10 assistants covering a full range of contentious and non-contentious IP, technology & commercial work. The group has grown very rapidly in the last year and expects to expand to at least 20 fee earners in the next financial year. *They undertake a full range of IT and e-commerce contracts for owners, developers and end-users and computer games contracts; *continuous IT technology and media work; branding and IP protection, privacy and confidentiality advice including acting for high net worth individuals and well known personalities and fashion brands; *trade mark design patent litigation and privacy/confidential information; commercial agency, distribution, supply/sale of goods arrangements and manufacturing agreements, franchising services and consultancy agreements for a range of commercial and industrial clients; *IP and technology exploitation agreements for university spin out companies, biotechnology and engineering companies; assisting the corporate and private equity groups in due diligence and providing support on corporate transactions; *sponsorship and marketing agreements, joint ventures, collaboration agreements and strategic partnerships media, content and IP rights exploitation and licensing agreements; *data protection and information security work, including strategic advice for the US and multinational companies; *outsourcing The quality and variety of work is the biggest selling point of this role. You will be involved in cutting edge litigation with a range of blue chip clients. The work will comprise a diverse workload in different business areas, with prospects for considerable client contact and business development. The successful candidate will also be expected to play an important role in the training of others within the group. Business development skills are also important as the successful candidate will have the opportunity to attend marketing and client functions, to prepare and present internal and external seminars and to write articles on matters of topical interest. The position requires a lawyer with good, IT and commercial law experience and an IP capability in the full range of litigation, arbitration and mediation solutions. A commercial acumen and excellent inter-personal and client management range of skills is required. The ideal candidate will have good all-round experience in advising on a wide range of IT contracts, with some specialist IT/IP experience, and will be able to work independently and to deal with a demanding caseload. You are likely to have been in an established IP or commercial department of a major law firm or specialist TMT/IP firm, or an in-house lawyer with the appropriate experience. As already mentioned, the team has grown significantly over the last year having taken on a number of high profile lateral hires. With these appointments the team is now well equipped to compete with other established IP/IT practices and is definitely one to watch!
