Job Description
Social Housing Solicitor, min 4 yrs PQE, required by leading law firm to primarily undertake a property development role within the firm's Real Estate Group.
The Social Housing practice has been steadily growing over the last few years and is now looking to further extend its team, to help service their increasing number of clients based in or around London.
Matters will include:
· The acquisition and sale of development sites
· Reviewing and/or drafting and negotiating development agreements
· Dealing with s106 planning agreements in particular as regards affordable housing provisions
· Working with others on large scale, mixed use regeneration schemes
· Advising on Nominations agreements
· Drafting and advising on conditional sale agreements and overage provisions
They would expect all members of the team to play an active role in business development.
Knowledge, skills and experience
· Experience of dealing or assisting with the matters set out above
· Awareness of the main issues facing the social housing sector
· Awareness of the regulatory and funding regime within which our social housing clients operate and the implications of their (mostly) being charities
· Awareness of the statutory consents regime within which local authorities work
· A team player
· Willing to share work/help others when the need arises
· Willing to take on a caseload of complex work
· Able to identify when to seek advice from specialist colleagues in e.g. EU procurement, employment, construction, planning and other issues
· Willing to take an active part in business development, including writing articles for trade magazines etc.
