Job Description

BCL Legal the leading legal recruiter in the Midlands has the following opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Lawyer to join an organisation in the Midlands.

Initially, this position will be on a part time basis (approximately 24 hours per week). This can be worked over 5 short days, or over 3-4 days if preferred so may work well around term time/school hours. After a 3-6 month period, the role would then look to become a full time position.

As the sole in-house Lawyer, you will be responsible for a range of legal matters to include Commercial Contracts, IT/IP, Data Protection, as well as some Commercial Litigation matters.

The ideal candidate will be confident at drafting contracts, to include supplier and maintenance agreements, purchasing agreements and non-disclosure agreements. You will also be required to draft terms and conditions for the organisation from time to time.

You will also be required to handle intellectual property matters for the company, to include trademark/copyright infringement claims as well as the acquisition of intellectual property rights in respect of the organisations products, newly acquired companies and trading names. You must have sound knowledge of the Data Protection Act as you will also act as the Data Compliance Officer for the business.

From time to time you may be required to deal with some litigious matters as and when they arise. This may include negotiating with unsatisfied customers, mitigating any potential losses, establishing financial settlements, and preventing disputes.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have worked in-house already, however individuals from a practice background will also be considered. You must have Commercial/IT experience, and some exposure to Company Secretarial matters would be a distinct advantage, however this is not essential.

Please only apply for this opportunity if you have the requisite skills and experience.
