Job Description

Job Title: Contracts Specialist

Purpose of the Contracts Specialist is to successfully mitigate company risk by effectively negotiating UK and International contracts that achieve commercial objectives whilst protecting our client.

Overall Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Negotiation of core/non-core contracts, master agreements and preferred supplier agreements
  • Ensure contracts are processed in accordance with deadlines, turnaround targets and database tracking requirements.
  • Maintain electronic contract review and sign-off audit trail
  • Assist with developing and maintaining standard contract templates

Key Duties:

  • Review/negotiate commercially astute contracts that minimise company exposure;
  • Scope contracts to meet internal requirements and operational capabilities;
  • Ensure contracts are drafted robustly to remove the potential for disagreement or ambiguity post negotiation;
  • Effective management and prioritisation of workload and timely finalisation of contracts in line with deadlines;
  • Ensure an audit trail for the proper internal review and sign-off of all contracts by the relevant internal functions.
  • Effective roll-out of key contract terms and liabilities to internal departments upon contract finalisation;
  • Advise on any contractual issues and successfully influence key stakeholders to have buy in;
  • Maintenance of contracts with regard to expiry, renewal, amendments, fee increase and other contract milestone dates;
  • Log and track key contract information and workflow via the contract database;
  • Assist with maintaining a standard set of contract templates that meet the requirements of the different business areas within which thew company operates;
  • Review/negotiate contracts that meet the requirements of non-core departments such as IT, HR and Finance
  • Ensure best practice compliance and application of UK / International contractual and statutory obligations;

Key Qualifications for the role:

  • Graduate Business Degree or Equivalent
  • Strong Pre-university education

Key Experience for the role:

Established contracting experience in a commercial environment preferably within the Pharmaceutical industry.
