Job Description
Highly commercially-minded non contentious company Lawyer required for new sole counsel role based near Darlington.
The role is one of Senior Manager with overall responsibility for the provision of expert advice in legal and contractual matters.
The role carries with it responsibility for the assessment, development and introduction of new legal and contractual standards and organisational compliance with corporate standards.
Principal responsibilities / objectives, To:
· Identify, manage and mitigate legal risk issues across the organisation (to include insurance protection and indemnity).
· Provide advice on contract terms and conditions across the organisation.
· Ensure that the organisation and its subsidiaries contract on appropriate commercial and contract terms.
· Provide advice on matters of dispute across the organisation.
· To ensure that the organisation (and its subsidiaries) complies with legislation, regulation and the requirements of professional bodies, including interpreting the effect of any proposed changes to legislation.
· Provision of preventative legal advice and risk training to the organisation.
· Keeping abreast of commercial law changes and drafting best practice notes on topical issues for use across the organisation.
· Development of organisational and subsidiary wide legal and risk strategies.
The Individual:
A qualified solicitor with extensive contract experience, preferably gained within the offshore oil and gas industry. Pragmatic and solutions driven, flexible and adaptable with excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and an ability and desire to take responsibility and gain credibility. An ability to transform legal issues into workable solutions within a business context.
Salary is likely to be around £60K + bens. Reporting directly into the Chairman
