Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for costs draftspeople with previous experience to join and expanding new team in London.


The firm are market leaders in the field of legal costs, which continues to develop and change on a daily basis and their employees receive a continued and sustained development programme.


Successful candidates will find positions with significant potential for advancement of their careers, and an innovative, busy, and driven environment to work within and the firm welcome applicants from all areas of the costing spectrum, including qualified Law Costs Draftsmen (AALCD, FALCD or Costs Lawyers).


You'll aim to commence negotiations early and aim to settle cases within 14 to 21 days of a bill. The firm provides a complete costs litigation service, with a specific emphasis on Claimant personal injury, medical negligence and commercial cases, currently employing over 40 costs lawyers, draftsmen and negotiators.


The firm are well established in various parts of the UK and are now setting up a new team in the heart of Cambridge. Ideally you'll have a 2:1 Law degree and ambitions to progress your career within costs. There is a lot of autonomy associated with this role, our staff have the ability to conduct litigation, we can enter into CFAs and, generally, our services are legitimately recognised.


In respect of costs litigation, their standing is now little different from solicitors or barristers. The successful candidate will need sound experience in a broad range of costs analysis work with a strong technical background.


Responsibilities will include; working as part of a large team - drafting bills and schedules of costs including formulating offers and negotiating settlements. Experience of drafting Bills of Costs and having an extensive knowledge of the detailed assessment process is essential. You'll also be dealing with court applications, as well as advocacy will be an advantage.


Salary is circa £35,000 however there may be some flexibility on that. Please send CV for immediate consideration.
