Based in Milton Keynes, This well structured legal 500 law firm has an excellent reputation for providing an outstanding service to its clients. The firm has nearly doubled in size over the last six years with an increase in turnover of 48.2pc, following growth exceeding 20% per year for the previous years.
Due to the firm’s incredible rate of successful growth. This renowned law firm is currently seeking the services of a Company Commercial Solicitor with a minimum of 4+ years UK PQE, of which 3 years must be a mixture of Company and Commercial work.
With full secretarial support provided, the main purpose of the role will be to undertake fee-earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of the department, and to ensure the successful development of the firm in line with the business plan. In particular the successful applicant will take on and run Company and Commercial cases to include: Sales & Purchases of businesses, Agreements (Distribution, Franchise, Consultancy, Partnership, Service), Company Formations, IP Licensing, Terms & Conditions for business, Share sales.
Specific Responsibilities of the role include
• To ensure that all client work is progressed expeditiously and that the client is kept regularly informed on progress and on costs.
• To deliver up-to-date legal advice to clients, that takes account of the commercial pressures on clients.
• To give clients “value for money”, and to participate in ensuring that the firm plans to transact work that maintains and improves profitability.
• To achieve agreed levels of billing and time recording.
• To act as “line manager” for staff who report to you, ie to supervise the effective performance of their work, to develop them through the annual appraisal procedure and through daily guidance (liaising with anyone else to whom they report), and to ensure that they put into practice the training they receive.
• To participate in the marketing of the firm.
• To answer telephone calls quickly and to deal quickly with messages with the help of your secretary.
• To set up and maintain an efficient system of diary management with the help of your secretary.
• To deal quickly with correspondence and to maintain regular contact with clients on current cases.
• To ensure that your secretary and other staff have the equipment and working conditions needed to do a good job.
Main Responsibilities of the role include
• To manage all client work allocated by the Head of department or other partner’s and in accordance with detailed procedures and quality standards of the firm
• To exercise high standards of client care in a professional and pleasant manner and to be continually sensitive to all facets of the overall quality of service being received by clients.
• To ensure the confidentiality and security of all of the firm’s and client documentation and information.
• In close liaison with Accounts to have overall responsibility for credit control on own matters.
• To ensure good working relationships with external institutions and organisations.
• To anticipate problems and difficulties and take suitable actions.
