CORPORATE ENVIRONMENT PRACTICE PSL - LONDON CITY
Leading international full service law firm seek Corporate PSL 4 - 7 years PQE to deal with Environment Practice. The role of a Professional Support Lawyer within the Firm is fundamentally a legal one; hence our emphasis is upon relevant private practice. PSLs work with people at all levels within the Firm, and hence the capability to communicate effectively is essential. The nature of the work undertaken will vary, but the individuals will generally be involved with research, drafting, analysis, business development and training.
The environmental and health and safety practice draws on a wide body of expertise within the firm to provide risk management advice and solutions to meet the ever-increasing requirements of our clients. We provide a wide range of stand-alone advice on issues as diverse as the implementation of theWaste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive and directors' liabilities under environmental and health and safety law across a broad range of industries operating both in the UK and internationally. We are also involved in a number of high-profile projects internationally and in the UK including a petrochemicals project in Saudi Arabia valued at between $4-6 billion.
The role
The role would ideally suit a more junior practitioner with a few years' experience but someone at senior associate levels would not be ruled out. There has not to date been a PSL in the practice and thus a certain amount of the infrastructure necessary to support the practice's know-how requirements, such as model forms, precedents, core training, regular updates to fee-earners and regular client bulletins, needs to be properly established. The PSL appointed to this Environment role will work closely with PSLs elsewhere in the firm, but particularly with PSLs in Corporate, Energy, Finance, Planning and Real Estate.
Education/Qualifications
· 2(i) degree (minimum) from a respected university.
· Solicitors' examinations passed first time.
· Would usually require UK qualification.
Experience
· Experience in private practice is essential.
· Experience of environment practice is essential.
· Candidates with experience in-house or in academic positions will be considered, but all candidates will need to have worked in private practice. We will also consider applications from barristers for some positions.
· Major City firm experience or experience in a large commercial firm is highly desirable.
· Experience of previous work as a PSL is not necessary.
Behaviour Competencies
· Excellent technical abilities of legal knowledge and skills
· Demonstrates ability to establish professional credibility
· Strong writing, drafting and communication skills
· A proactive mindset
· Effective project management skills
· Self confidence.
The preference is to appoint a candidate to work 3 or 4 days a week. Flexible working is a possibility
