Our client is a different kind of law firm focused exclusively on public service contracts and partnerships. Their main body of clients are local authorities, NHS bodies, private contractors, not-for-profits and social enterprises. The Person
· Admitted as a solicitor.
· Have a good grounding in commercial contracts and an understanding of public service contracting
environment
· An understanding of and empathy with public sector organisations and their partners
· Familiarity with the legislative and regulatory framework for public authorities
· Have enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to inspire confidence in clients
· A strong communicator verbally and in writing. Ability to communicate complex issues in concise and
understandable form.
· Attention to detail and a commitment to providing a quality-assured service to deadlines
· Good project management and organisation skills
· Proactive and self-motivated – able to take forward projects on own initiative and work in a team
environment
· Personable and flexible in approach
· Well-presented, efficient and punctual
· Good skills with MS Office suite of products (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)
The Role
• The work is challenging but rewarding. Full training and support will be given.
• The position will include dealing with all aspects of public service contracts and partnerships, including:
• Preparing and negotiating commercial, development and funding contracts
• Compliance with EU procurement and competitive tendering provisions in the context of major projects
• Corporate governance issues
• Liaison with relevant private finance units/public bodies
• Creation of companies, trusts and other corporate bodies
• Training and capacity-building for organisations involved in public service contracting
• At the cutting-edge of Government policy to create more competition and choice in healthcare, the healthcare position will focus on creating new service models for healthcare, working with PCTs, GPs third sector providers and social enterprises to create new delivery structures for commissioning and providing
health and social care services.
