Job Description

Defendant clinical negligence solicitor x2, permanent and fixed term, Birmingham

Vacancies have arisen for 2 Solicitors (ideally 3-4 years PQE) in the Birmingham Clinical Risk Department of this leading national firm. 1 vacancy is on a permanant basis and the other is on a Fixed Term Contract basis for 12 months. This firm is dedicated to providing commercial legal advice to clients in the Public, Private and Third Sectors which provide, procure, fund and regulate public services.

The Role:

This team of clinical negligence specialists works across both the public and private sectors: they are members of the NHSLA clinical negligence panel and highly regarded for our work in the NHS. They also provide clinical negligence services to private health providers.

The department consists of 7 partners and over 30 lawyers, 10 of whom form part of the Clinical Negligence team in Birmingham. In joining the team your role would involve managing a varied caseload of clinical negligence matters with values of up to £250,000. In addition, you would be assisting more experienced members of the team on high value obstetric and neurological claims for a range of West Midlands based NHS Trusts.

The Individual:

Ideally you will have direct experience of working in Defendant Clinical Negligence practice. However, experienced Claimant Clinical Negligence or Defendant Personal Injury practitioners would also be considered.
You will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to manage a caseload efficiently and to make robust commercial decisions. The ability to communicate clearly with clients, medical staff and expert witnesses is key.
