THE FIRM
Our client is independently rated by The Legal 500 and Chambers Directory as the leading provider of legal services to the healthcare sector.
The Clinical Law department comprises of 40 fee earners.
The firm has been a member of the NHSLA's panel of lawyers since its inception and also carries out work for an increasing number of medical malpractice insurers and defence organisations. In addition to clinical negligence work, the department also carries out a wide range of other work which includes advising on regulatory matters, public law issues, judicial reviews, mental health issues and clinical risk management.
THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a self-motivated and ambitious lawyer to join its highly regarded and expanding medical malpractice insurance litigation team.
The role will involve managing a mixed caseload of private medical malpractice insurance claims as well as clinical negligence claims for the NHSLA. There will also be the opportunity to help supervise more junior fee earners and assist with business development.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will ideally:
· have gained at least 2 years' post qualification experience with a leading defendant medical negligence or personal injury insurance litigation practice;
· be a confident litigator who is dynamic, self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal partner supervision;
· have experience of managing and supervising more junior fee earners;
· have some client contacts within the PI or medical malpractice insurance industry and good experience of handling client relationships;
· be keen to assist with business development and practice area growth in insurance litigation around medical malpractice work as well as EL / PL work; and
· be a good team player with strong interpersonal skills.
