The department

Healthcare and Clinical Risk is a core part of our business and the leading law firm in this field in the UK. Our teams are based in Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Winchester allowing us to offer truly national coverage to both public and private healthcare clients. The Bristol team serves both local NHS clients and national healthcare providers in the private sector covering all aspects of healthcare related advice and representation

Core responsibilities

The main purpose of this role is to provide an excellent standard of secretarial support to fee earners across the specified practice. You will be expected to prepare correspondence and documents from digital dictation and document bundles for fee earners. You will have responsibility for ensuring all client details are kept up to date. You will assist with incoming billing, cash collection and accounts queries and will contact clients to book meetings. You will be expected to file, archive, photocopy, scan and fax documents as and when required and manage the case management system. There will be an expectation for you to handle confidential information in line with the firms data security protocols

Key skills

You will be qualified to a minimum of 5 GCSEs (including a grade C in English and Maths) or equivalent and you will have worked in a legal environment previously.

A secretarial NVQ / Diploma or equivalent would be beneficial but is not essential. However, you do need to have a typing speed of 65 wpm and have all round IT skills, especially in Microsoft packages.

Being a team player is key to this role with an adaptable approach to work but you must also be able to work independently. You must be able to communuicate clearly and concisely, paying attention to detail whilst meeting competing deadlines.
