Charities Solicitor

A phenomenal opportunity has arisen for an experienced for a senior Charities solicitor with expertise in Charities and Social Enterprise work, to be based in Bristol (or Exeter) with this highly regarded Legal 500 regional law firm with offices throughout Devon. This exciting opportunity for an Charities solicitor comes with a good remuneration package and a real chance to progress your career.

The Role
The ideal candidate will be a senior lawyer with expertise in Charities and Social Enterprise work, based in Bristol (or Exeter). The candidate would ideally have experience in this area of law as well as excellent marketing and team development skills. Excellent opportunity for personal development.
The kind of work you will be handling along with a wider team will include: -
· formation and registration of charities, community interest companies and other forms of social enterprise;
· incorporation of existing charities;
· advice upon governance and trustees' powers, duties and liabilities;
· advice upon applications for Schemes and Orders;
· reconstructions. mergers, amalgamations and collaborative working;
· trading by charities, social enterprises and trading subsidiaries;
· property transactions and mortgages by charities;
· employment and volunteers;
· fundraising;
· grants and grant conditions;
· winding up and the application of charitable assets; and
· taxation.

The Firm
Our client advises all types of charities, community interest companies, social enterprises and other organisations in the Third Sector, combining specialist legal knowledge with a real understanding of the voluntary sector. Their specialist charity lawyers form teams with our employment, property, taxation and litigation lawyers to provide an all round service to the Third Sector.
Recent work undertaken includes:
· the conversion of an industrial and provident society to a company limited by guarantee;
· advising upon the winding up of a regional cultural charity following changes to its funding;
· registration of a charity to operate leisure services and the transfer of the facilities from a local authority;
· advising on the formation of a community land trust; and
· the merger of three related charities.
