THE COMPANY
Our client is leading financial services company based in the City of London.
THE ROLE
This is an Associate Counsel role for a Commercial Lawyer
There will be a particular emphasis on supporting a new platform which is being rolled out into new jurisdictions and to new customers. That workstream may take up to around 60% of the new recruit's time, the rest will be spent on assisting on all other projects and general commercial issues.
Day to Day Work Requirements:
· Work with the legal team in a fast moving environment;
· To support the department and the business on projects, cross-jurisdictional issues and business development as required;
· Advanced contract drafting and negotiation skills, including:
- Customer and vendor documentation
- Inter-company service level agreements
- outsourcing agreements
- standard terms of business
· To assist the business in its day to day activities and initiatives, ensuring legal risk is understood, that business aims are achieved and that the overall position of the group is safeguarded;
· To maintain effective and close working relationships with the business and colleagues so as to maintain a proactive and co-operative working environment.
· Oversee instructions to external counsel to ensure legal risk and external expenditure are managed appropriately;
ABOUT YOU
Experience:
3 5 PQE, with exposure to:
· Customer documentation in financial services environment
· General commercial contracts / advisory work
· Cross-jurisdictional business development projects
· Financial services regulatory issues

· Ability and preparedness to give effective oral briefs to the business and explain legal issues clearly;
· Ability not to be fazed by short-notice demands and tight deadlines;
· Common sense and practical with an ability to prioritise conflicting demands on time and attention;
· Heavy emphasis on results and execution;
· Required to develop with and understand the business.
The successful candidate will have gained experience in a City or equivalent law firm and ideally already have gained in house experience.
