THE ROLES
The firm looking for assistant solicitors in the Banking and Finance group lawyers are not allocated to particular areas of work or particular partners, and would be exposed to all the areas of work covered by the group.
The firm encourages some specialisation as assistants become more senior but all our client's assistants and partners cover a wide range of the group's areas of expertise.
Client secondments are common and secondments to overseas law firms may be possible.
They encourage their assistants to participate in client and business development activities.
The firm takes a flexible approach to recruitment and aims to recruit lawyers that they believe show talent, motivation and potential so there is some flexibility in the criteria above where a good case is clearly shown.
The firm has a very high retention rate for its trainees and assistants the current need to recruit is driven by an increase in partner numbers, as well as the continuing increase in work across all areas of the practice.
The firm believes it offers a smart alternative to the Magic Circle, with excellent prospects and a real opportunity for ambitious lawyers to develop and work for quality clients on difficult and rewarding transactions.

ABOUT YOU
The firm is looking to recruit assistant solicitors into the Banking and Finance group.
Broadly, they want to recruit lawyers that fulfil the following criteria:
· Strong academic qualifications from A Levels, with a minimum 2:1 degree
· At least one Banking and Finance seat completed during the lawyer's Training Contract
· 1 to 5 years' post-qualification experience from a Magic Circle or Silver Circle firm, or a firm with recognised Banking and Finance credentials.
· Good quality post-qualification experience in either:
· acquisition finance and/or restructuring and insolvency, together with, ideally, some experience of any of the following areas which are covered by the group corporate lending, fund finance, mezzanine finance and real estate finance; or
· structured finance, derivatives, debt capital markets, securitisations and CLOs, advising all key stakeholders
· Ambitious, with a genuine commitment to develop both their professional and legal skills and the profile of the group
· Articulate and confident to deliver at the highest standard within a team of very competent assistants operating at the top of their game
· Languages (particularly Mandarin and Arabic) and other experience, either within or outside the law, may be an advantage.
